Road trips are so much fun!
Earlier this summer we took a family road trip from California to Utah. Later this week we will be road tripping again with our kids to San Diego for Comic-Con.
One thing about traveling with kids is that you have to be prepared. Cars are a great place to be stuck to bond with family, but it can also be a place where the kids get cramped and cranky.
The last thing you want on a family road trip is an endless shout of “Mom, are we there yet?” in the car.
Luckily, I’ve got some great ideas for you that will keep your family entertained, happy, and safe during your road trip, start to finish!
Does your family have a favorite book series? Take it on the road with an Audible subscription! We’ve been Audible subscribers for quite some time. It’s so much fun to hear our favorite books come to life in the car. Our favorites to listen too are Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events!

It’s always nice to start a road trip with a big family breakfast. Kids are always hungry, at least my growing kiddos! I like to make sure they are fed before we get on the road, so we can drive for a while without having to stop. IHOP just celebrated their 59th anniversary and we visited for pancakes! They were delicious and we can’t wait to go back on this next road trip.
Have you ever had a road trip emergency or mishap?
Well, we have and believe me when I say you will want to be prepared. Having a well stocked emergency kit in your car is so important.
TREX Tape is very strong, water & heat resistant, and holds almost anything together. We actually had to use it on a recent beach trip when my mom’s electric window on her car stopped working and wouldn’t roll up. We used TREX tape to hold it up on the drive home until we could get it to a mechanic.
So, TREX tape can really be a life saver! I can imagine it would be great to have on hand camping too. Either way we will always be keeping some in our car.
Snacks are important for any road trip. Not only for the kids, but mom and dad too. Our whole family loves Chops Snacks Jerky for road trips!
I love that Chops Jerky is all natural with no preservatives. You can really taste the difference because this jerky is super tender and flavorful.
How cool is the Cube-tastic Puzzle Cube? This game is linked to an app and has my 9 year old son so intrigued.
Cube-tastic builds problem solving skills, memory, and helps with hand-eye coordination. Plus the app is free, which is a big bonus. We will definitely be taking this game on the road with us this weekend to Comic-Con!
