We’ve all been there, a day so hectic making dinner seems like an impossible feat.
You may have had a long day at work or a long day as a stay-at-home-mom. Your toddler may have thrown a tantrum or drawn all over the hallway walls.
Whatever it is, I’ve had those days too.
Days when my husband gets home from work and I just don’t feel like pulling together a homemade meal for the family or running to the grocery store for something easy to make.
First, don’t be hard on yourself because you are struggling with preparing the perfect dinner. We’ve all had chaotic nights, it just comes with being a mom. Plus, there are other ways you can still pull off that perfect dinner, which I’ll tell you about below.
Before thinking about mealtime focus on what is making it chaotic. Is your toddler having a meltdown? Are your kids experiencing some sibling rivalry?
Deal with those important family issues first, then once you have it under control, or mostly under control you can take a deep breath for yourself and consider dinner.
On nights like these the best solution is most often getting a dinner the whole family loves, but is easy on mom.
Just the other night I had exactly this night, my son was fed up with homework and didn’t feel good and my toddler, who refused to nap was getting into everything you could imagine.
I’m pregnant, so after cleaning crayon off the hallway walls, chasing her around the house, and getting my son to work on homework for 10 minutes I felt like throwing in the towel.
Luckily I had some Red Baron® pizzas in the freezer to save the day. My family loves Red Baron® Classic Crust Pizza the best. It is not too thick and not too thin, with just the right amount of crunch. It is so easy for me to cook on hard nights plus, it’s great if you are on a budget!
If you have them handy, pull out the paper plates and cutlery! Why not spend less time doing dishes, if possible. It is a hectic mealtime after all and you need more time to de-stress.
Running short on paper plates? That’s okay too. Save yourself more grief by putting the kids on dish duty after dinner.
You’ve had a rough night, so make sure you get some time to de-stress. If not tonight then sometime this week.
Have your husband watch the kids so you can have some me-time to read, watch a show, or do something you love for an hour or two.
Make sure you keep stock of easy dinners for those hard nights in motherhood. Red Baron® pizzas are so easy to keep stocked up in the freezer for such nights (You can find them in the freezer aisle at Target). Just pull them out and stick them in the oven to enjoy with your family.
As moms we deserve a badge for conquering mealtime during hard nights. We work so hard and need to celebrate ourselves!
I really relate to the Red Baron® Baroness because she is a pizza enthusiast (like me) and loves to find humor in hard nights. She also gives herself patches for her hard work as a mom.
Of all her patches, I think I’ll give myself the “Good Enough” patch. It’s easy to not feel good enough as a mom when dinner time doesn’t go perfectly. But, we are all good enough! Especially for thinking outside the box and coming up with easy solutions to nights like these.
Do you love a good giveaway? Me too!
