Has your to-do list ever seemed miles long?
I think as busy moms we just find ourselves overwhelmed with lists of things to do, half of which may never get done.
Lately I’ve been especially overwhelmed with to-do lists. It’s a daily struggle that I’ve had to learn ways to deal with.
I’m almost 6 months pregnant, have a busy toddler full of emotions, and a 9-year-old in school.
Taking care of those kids and my pregnancy already adds a ton to my to-do list.
But, add household chores, cooking, and blogging work. Phew! Right on the way to overwhelm!
In a few weeks we will be starting homeschooling with my son. So, now is a great time to get that to-do list under control.
Here are some of my tips to hopefully help you deal with your mile-long to-do list too!
Chances are there are things on your to-do list that aren’t very important. Take those things off so you can focus on what you really need to get done.
You never know when things are going to come up in your day that make your to-do list impossible to complete. So, be flexible on those days. Change difficult items to easier items and scratch some off the list for another day.
Focus on the must-do items on your list first. You will feel so much better getting the things you are obligated to get done finished.
Make sure you aren’t working on your to-do list alone. See if there are things on your list that your kids or husband can help you get done.
Maybe your to-do list scribbled on a piece of paper isn’t working for you. You may need to try some alternatives. A planner, colorful markers in a notebook, or an app that reminds you of the things you need to do.
As a mom, I always feel like I’m dealing with some sort of crisis. Whether that be with my kids, pets, or a broken dishwasher. Those are the days you need an alternative.
Make a list of alternatives to keep handy on days like these. I love keeping a list of meal alternatives for busy days. Banquet’s new Mega Bowls are perfect for these busy days.
These are so easy to find at Walmart and stock up on in your freezer. There are several different Mega Bowls for everyone to enjoy including; Chicken Fajita, Steak, Fried Chicken, Backyard BBQ, and Salsbury Steak.
Don’t miss the current Ibotta offer for $.50 off any 1 Banquet Mega Meal or Banquet Mega Bowl!
Don’t forget to celebrate when you check a big item off your to-do list. It’s important to take some time to celebrate victories and get pumped up for completing the next big task.
It might help to separate your to-do lists. Make a list of things the kids can help with, things that must be completed, and a little list of things you would like to get done.
Make a day at least once a month to take a complete break from your to-do list. I’m talking about a complete break! Put your list away and relax. Don’t look at it until your day off is over.
Don’t let your list get out of control. Make a rule for yourself of how many items you can add to your to-do list each day. This will keep you from getting too overwhelmed with a list a mile long.
