Mother’s Day is coming up and I’ve been thinking a lot about the traditions my mom passed on and the lessons she’s taught us over the years.
I was lucky to be raised up with strong women in my life. My mom was no exception. She was one of the strongest women I know and taught us values that I want to pass on to my kids, especially my daughter!
One of the lessons my mom taught us that stuck with me was to be gracious and giving of ourselves.
We always watched her as she gave selflessly to others, often times putting their needs before her own.
Whenever Mother’s Day came around she encouraged us to do something nice for our grandma or to make her something special.
It was her example of being gracious and giving that taught me how important it is. Her giving nature, to me, showed her strength as a mom and a woman to think of others always.
Looking back at my childhood I can now say that one of the best things we as mothers can do to teach our daughters the value of giving is leading by example.
Our little girls are watching everything we do as mammas!
When they see us giving back and being gracious to other people it sticks with them.
Since my mom always encouraged us to give back during Mother’s Day I thought I would plan out a Mother’s Day project with my daughter to help her be giving to her grandma.
My kids are always playing in their grandma’s garden. Especially my little girl who just turned 3 years old.
She’s a pretty high spirited little thing and has really contributed a lot to making a mess of her grandma’s garden.
Just last month she dumped a whole bag of potting soil all over the back patio.
But, that’s okay, the grand kids really can do no wrong.
Still, I wanted to try to teach her that we could be giving to grandma, clean up, and give her a nice garden for Mother’s Day!
She was really excited to help me sweep and pick up the trash.
Even more excited to plant the flowers!
Putting a little soil on the top? I just went along with it.
We brought a trashcan outside and used Hefty® Ultra Strong™ trash bags to clean up the mess and to clean up our trash from the flowers we bought.
Love that they blocked all the odors from the backyard messes outside!
Our garden project turned out so beautifully. I’m not sure how much my 3-year-old actually learned about giving, but she seemed pretty proud of the work she did and was excited to show her grandma!
Cleaning projects work great for Mother’s Day gifts that can teach your kids how to be gracious and giving.
Hefty® Ultra Strong™ trash bags are great to have on hand for projects like this because they smell so good and they hold a lot without any rips or breaks in the bag. The drawstring also keeps them from falling back down into the trash, which is so important when you’re cleaning.
Did you know that Hefty® also has a 100% money back guarantee if you’re not happy with them?
I also love that you can get them at a good savings, because they always have a low price.
Hefty® has teamed up with John Cena and his mom Carol to celebrate strong moms everywhere. Hefty® Ultra Strong™ trash bags are strong just like our moms!
I really think this is such an important message to celebrate our moms for their strengths and try to pass down those strengths like giving to our daughters!
