5 Ways to Help Your Kids Feel Supported During the School Year

This post is sponsored by Softwarekeep. All content is my own.

As a mom of almost three kids I’m beginning to realize that making each individual child feel supported isn’t as easy as it looks.

During the school year things get so busy and it can be easy to look over the little ways we as parents can be helping our kids succeed during the school year.

I’ve been thinking a lot this week about ways we can easily support our kids in school and wanted to share them with all of you!

School can be rough and lets face it, our kids don’t always let us know when they are struggling or how we can help them.

Here are some things you can do easily to offer support. In 5 minutes or less because we are all busy parents.

5 Ways to Help Your Kids Feel Supported During the School Year

  1. Ask Your Kids Questions Daily

Make sure to ask important questions each day after school. Opening up conversation after school each day will allow them opportunities to tell you if something is going on at school.

They may need more support in a certain subject or might even be having trouble with bullying. I like to make it a point to ask questions after school for at least 5 minutes per day.

  2. Provide Tools They Need to Succeed

There are so many tools that can help our children be successful during the school year. Now that my son is in 3rd grade and is going to start writing  book reports I like to have access for him to Microsoft Office.

Softwarekeep is a great site to find Microsoft Office software on a budget. The process to buy through them is so easy and is something you can do in 5 minutes or less! Right now Softwarekeep is offering a 20% discount on their Microsoft Office products for back to school.

  3. Make Sure They Are Getting Enough Sleep

Setting up a good bedtime schedule isn’t very time consuming. But, it is something that can really set our kids up for success during the school year.

I know when my kids get enough sleep each night, they are much easier to wake up in the morning. They also have more energy after school!

  4. Be Available For Homework Help

Let your kids know that you are available for any type of help they might need for school. Remind them that you are there to help with homework or to help them through school frustrations. Set up 20 minutes per night where you sit down together to work through homework.

  5. Give a Lot of Love

Our kids probably go through more than we even know during the school year, so it’s important that we show them all the love and support we can.

You can do this in so many ways and even go the extra mile with lunchbox notes or coming up with a reward system for their hard work at school. Simply letting them know you love them and you are proud of them each day is sure to go a long way in helping them feel supported.

How do you help your kids feel supported during the school year? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
