How to Raise Kids That Love Cooking

This post is sponsored by CreateMyCookbook. All content is my own.

There are so many benefits to raising kids that love cooking!

First, they will be more likely to make home cooked meals for their own family when they grow older.

Cooking is a skill that will allow them to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Because if they enjoy their time in the kitchen they will be less likely to eat out.

It’s also a tremendous opportunity to spend time bonding as a family as your kids learn the tricks and trades of the kitchen!

What should a beginner cook?

Do you want to know a secret?

You can cook anything with your kids!

The key is finding easy jobs that are appropriate for their age level and getting them increasingly involved in the kitchen as they grow older.

Start with recipes you usually make at home. They will be excited to learn how to make their favorite family dinners and treats.

How can I make cooking fun for my kids?

Get them in the kitchen– Give them simple tasks while you cook in the kitchen that are age appropriate. Little ones can even get involved stirring ingredients in a bowl or finding an ingredient in the refrigerator.

Make a family cookbook together– Take the family recipes out of the cupboard and plan out a family cookbook with your kids. They will love hearing the stories behind each recipe and then making them with you!

CreateMyCookbook has really easy software to help you organize your recipes! You can make a cookbook quickly by taking photo’s of your recipes with your phone and having them type it for you, using their “We Type It” feature! (Check it out below)

It’s so much fun cooking family recipes with your kids. Creating a cookbook together is a great way to bond and have a fun family keepsake to pass down to them when they get older.

I just created a cookbook using CreateMyCookbook with my kids full of family desserts. We took pictures of our recipe cards and used the “WeTypeIt” feature to put together our book quickly. So, we will have our book before we start our holiday baking!

Let them help plan the menu– Get them involved from step one. Plan out a menu with your kids and take them shopping for the ingredients. Then, cook it together. They will be so excited to make something they planned.

Help them get creative– Ask them what they like about the recipes you make together and what you can do to improve it next time. Pretty soon they will be creating their own spin on your favorite family recipes.

Do you have family recipes you want to cook with your kids? Tell me about them in the comments below! Don’t forget you can put all your favorite recipes into a book with CreateMyCookbook!
