Having a miserably sick child can be so hard. Especially when you are a parent who would do anything to make them feel better.
If you have little ones who can’t tell you how bad they feel or what hurts you can be left even more stumped on what you can do to help them.
This week our family got hit with a bad cold.
Stuck with a cold at eight months pregnant with a sick 2 year old wasn’t an easy task to take on.
But, we did find some quick and easy ways, besides medicine, to help our kids feel better.
It helps to keep stocked up on comforting things for cold and flu season. Things like chicken noodle soup and Kleenex can be just the thing to get your little ones feeling better.
I had just ordered a multi-pack of Kleenex from Walmart with their 2-day shipping, so we were good to go with runny noses. You can get a large pack from Walmart at a great price and it’s easy with 2 day shipping or same day pick up at the store.
My two year old wouldn’t let me touch her nose with another wipe. So, I was very happy when our Kleenex ultra soft came to the rescue.
They really are so soft and didn’t bother her at all! Our 9 year old has been miserable with a cold as well and carries a box of these tissues to himself all day!
Being there for your kids brings them so much comfort when they are sick. Holding them and laying with them is sometimes all it takes to get them to relax and get comfortable.
Our 2 year old especially likes to be held and cuddled when she’s sick. We even let her come to bed with us on nights she just couldn’t sleep. Being with us helped her to get comfortable and finally get some rest.
The best days for family movie days are sick days! We like to let our kids make a comfy bed on the floor in the living room with blankets and pillows for a day of relaxing and watching movies as a family.
While you are giving your little ones extra cuddles try and add story time or singing songs. The singing works better with smaller children. Although, our 9 year old loves to sing songs with me to try and make his little sister feel better.
For our 9 year old he loves listening to chapter books and it will even put him to sleep when he’s sick.
How do you make your kids feel better when they’re sick? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
