How to Prevent Burnout During the School Day | Keep Kids Energized

This post is sponsored by Mamma Chia. All content is my own.

Do your kids ever burn out during the school day?

School is long and demanding for young kids. Especially during those adjustment periods after summer and holiday breaks.

I’m sure every mom has picked their kids up from school on those days they are dog tired. Too tired to work on homework or run around outside.

My own son has had those days where the school day drug slowly and he came home exhausted from it all.

How to Prevent Burnout During the School Day

There are so many ways we can help our kids avoid burnout during the school day.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they came home every day with extra energy and no complaints of being tired.

Be Positive and Encouraging

Wake up each day with a positive and encouraging attitude. Stay upbeat during your morning routine and when sending your kids off to school.

Our attitudes as parents rub off on our kids. They are more likely to go through the school day happy and positive if we set that first example.

Getting Enough Sleep

Are your kids getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night?

Getting a full nights sleep makes all the difference. When kids are staying up late they are more likely to be dragging through the school day without enough energy to keep up with school work and recess.

Come up with a bedtime routine that works for your family. Ideally something that allows your kids to get 8 hours of sleep with enough time to wake up the next morning and get ready for school.

Fuel Them for the School Day

Kids definitely need a lot of energy to make it through school each day. So, packing them nutritious snacks is important.

Mamma Chia makes some of my favorite go-to snacks for after school.  My kids love them and the packets are so easy to throw into their lunch boxes for school.

These snacks are organic and energizing for the school day!

Snack and Break Time Before Homework

For many kids school doesn’t end after the bell rings. We always have a large packet of homework to contend with each week.

Finding enough energy for homework time can be challenging after a 6+ hour school day.

Taking a break before we begin homework is a great way to muster up a little bit more energy in my kids to do homework. Include an energizing snack, like Mamma Chia packets, to fuel their brains for homework time.

  • My daughter loves my energy balls that I make out of oatmeal, honey, peanut butter and chocolate chips.

  • I keep my kids energized by giving them healthy food to eat. I make them whole grain bread sandwiches with healthy meat and veges. I give them healthy snacks like hummus and whole grain chips. And we get plenty of fruits and veges.
