Finding Humor in Motherhood |What makes a child happy?

Finding humor in every day parenting is a big key to making a child happy.

I was just thinking the other day after my two year old had a huge tantrum and my kids were fighting like cats and dogs that I had the power to react in one of two ways.

Getting stressed out and letting it effect my mood as a parent would guide the outcome of that day for my kids.

But, guiding my kids out of their problems with positivity and having a sense of humor about the hard parenting moments can really make a difference towards a better and happier day for everyone.

What are some positive ways to make kids happy?

Make it a goal to bring as much positivity into each day with your kids. As a stay at home mom this can be challenging, but as you start to see more happiness spread through your home it is so worth it.

Putting Humor into Parenting

Have a sense of humor with yourself and your kids is a great place to start off a positive day with happy kids!

Read funny books with them! We are really loving See the Cat: Three Stories About a Dog by David LaRochelle! It’s all about a funny dog Max and his hilarious reactions to the narrator and other characters in the story.

It’s okay to laugh even when things aren’t going your way. There definitely is humor in raising kids. The next time your toddler gets into the pantry and spills all the flour find the humor!

Turn Off the Screens

Having time with no screens to bond with your kids is a great way to bring happiness into your home.

Your kids might fight you about this, but in the end the memories they have with you reading books, playing games, and playing with toys are the ones they’ll remember the most.

Fill Your Days with Positivity

Since your kids see you every day make sure you are modeling a positive and happy attitude to your kids.

As you watch TV, movies, play games, and read with your kids ask yourself if the message is positive and will have a positive effect on their day.

Kids really watch and respond to the things around them. It’s surprising how a little humor and positivity can brighten up moods.

How do you put humor into parenting? What are some ways you make your kids happy at home?
