Why Pedialyte is the Best for Fighting Cold and Flu Season

Are You Prepared for Cold and Flu Season?

This week I got hit hard with a nasty cold. The world must be playing some kind of cruel joke on me because moms really don’t have time to get sick. As a stay at home mom I can’t “call in” to my job of caring for 3 young kids.

My main concern is that I am prepared for the event that they get sick too. Which, they probably will because when one person gets sick in my house the rest usually follow.

One thing I have learned about cold and flu season is to never run out of Pedialyte! S

Seriously, this is a must have for both my husband and I and our kids.

I’ve learned a lot about Pedialyte over the years of being a mom and how it really does help. Aside from water, sports drinks, and juice, it’s pretty important in getting rehydrated and on the road to recovery.

Why is Pedialyte the Best for Cold and flu Season?

One of my main concerns when my kids get sick is keeping them hydrated. Having a dehydrated little one is not only scary, but can land you on a trip to the urgent care or hospital.

My kids love the flavors that Pedialyte comes in too and it isn’t hard to get them to drink it.  Since it’s the #1 pharmacist recommended brand for hydration  I know it’s a brand I can trust to give to my kids.

Did you know Pedialyte is different than sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade?

I didn’t either until our pediatrician filled us in! Unlike sports drinks, Pedialyte has a balance of sugar and sodium to prevent dehydration.

I’ve used Pedialyte so many times as a mom and try to keep one or two bottles in my fridge or cupboard at home in case the kids need it.

Where Can you Find Pedialyte?

Sometimes at the store it can be hard to find Pedialyte because it’s not next to the regular juices. You have to go to the baby section and look where you would find formula.

Walmart and Target both usually have a good selection of flavors to choose from at a great price. We always get strawberry, grape, and bubblegum, our son’s favorite.

Saving on Pedialyte and Stocking Up for Cold and Flu Season

One of my favorite ways to save on Pedialyte and stock up for cold and flu season is through Amazon Prime Pantry. It’s delivered to your door so you don’t have to run out when everyone starts to get sick.

When ordering through Amazon Pantry you have to fill up your pantry box. Everything is discounted as long as you fill your box. A lot of times there are coupons too.

Make sure you look at the products next to where you add to cart to see if there are any current coupons to clip.

Here is a shopping list of cold and flu essentials that would be good to stock up on through Amazon Pantry.

  • Hi Sammy.,
I’m a diabetic adult (woman) and I am deaf. I’m wondering how much Pedialyte do I drink while I’m trying to get over my cold? I had a bad flu last week wishing I knew about Pedialyte sooner. My friend just simply said go get some Pedialyte but not say how much to drink? I’m struggling to get over sore throat and bad coughs so how much do you know as “dose” amount?? I was told to stay in bed and sleep. I weigh about 195 Originally I thought Pedialyte is for children and infants.

    • Hi Dory! Pedialyte is definitely great to have on hand during cold and flu season. For specifics on how much to take as a diabetic I would definitely reach out to your health care provider (Doctor/Nurse). Good luck to you!

    • Hi Michele! I agree, Pedialyte is even good for dehydrated momma's. Take it from me, I am still recovering from the worst cold ever and crossing my fingers that my baby's don't get sick. ;)
