Parent-Child relationship goals are just as important as the goals you have with your spouse, find some examples why below.
The relationship you build with your children will last a lifetime.
It’s important that they get a good example of the healthy relationship they have with their parents, so they learn from that relationship.
So, they know what that looks like when they enter into friendships and more serious relationships in high school, college, and when they are ready to get married and have a family of their own someday.
You’ll want your kids to be able to differentiate healthy and unhealthy relationships.
With both friendships and relationships your child will be able to look back on the example you set in your parent-child relationship and make smart choices!
The AACAP states that the way you act as your child’s role model shapes how they develop relationships through life, positive or negative.
A healthy parent-child relationship is definitely a loving one.
We want to act as “positive” role models to our kids, not negative ones.
Creating strong relationships with your child is important to mold them into stable adults who will create good relationships.
Your kids will learn so much during their childhood, being raised by their parents.
Your kids will encounter hundreds of friendships and relationships over the course of their lives.
It’s up to you as a parent to model a healthy relationship because your relationships are the first ones they’ll see.
Take a look at your relationship with your children right now? Are there areas that you think you can improve?
None of us are perfect, even I can think of several ways I can improve on my relationship with my kids.
Use the tips above to help you make meaningful relationship goals with your child.
Here are a list of more family goals you can make to get started.
While strengthening the relationship you have with your child, remember what long term goals you have for them.
Do you want them to be able to work as a team, be positive in negative situations, be kind to others around them?
Be thoughtful of these goals as you model the behavior you want to teach them.
Remember your kids are often watching what you are doing and your interactions with others.
The amount of effort you put into positive relationship building with your children definitely plays apart in who they grow up to be.
Try to carve some time out to set goals for yourself as a parent. Make time to bond with your kids and be more mindful of how you model your interactions with them.
