Quick & Easy Mini Rice Pudding Trifles

This post is sponsored by Lakeview Farms and Señor Rico. The opinions and text are all mine.

It’s so fun to turn your favorite sweet treats into even more decadent desserts… just like the Mini Rice Pudding Trifle recipe I’m sharing below.

Señor Rico pudding is a family favorite of ours. I absolutely love their Rice Pudding and so do my kids and husband (it makes him nostalgic about the rice pudding he had as a child).

Read below to find out how to make our yummy Rice Pudding Trifles, an easy dessert you can serve for your family at home or at your next outdoor BBQ!

What is the best pudding to use in a rice pudding dessert?

Since we already love Señor Rico, that’s the type of pudding we use in all of our rice pudding desserts. It really is the best you can buy!

Señor Rico feels like that homemade rice pudding your grandma used to make, that’s actually why my husband is so obsessed! I love it because it has awesome flavor without all the artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors.

This rice pudding adds a layer of indulgence to any dessert. But, I especially like to use it to elevate my rice pudding trifle recipe below.

I love it because it has an awesome flavor without all the artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors. So, I can feel good about feeding it to my kids without all those extras.

Who likes to get extra fancy? I know I do… and Señor Rico has recently come out with some other rice pudding flavors that are too good to pass up by themselves for a snack or in a leveled up dessert recipe!

They have Dulce de Leche, Mango (with a real mango puree), and Chocolate Hazelnut flavors (made with real cocoa)! The Mango flavor is perfect for summertime days snacking outdoors by the pool.

I love how they’ve added a layer of delish and rich sauce between the pudding that really is irresistible. It’s hard not to keep going back to the fridge for more!

Señor Rico really has everyone in mind with their different products. Their Horchata pudding is great for days when you want a light snack or a plant-based option. It’s great to have this option too if you have someone who is on a plant-based diet at home or who is milk sensitive. This pudding is just as creamy as Señor Rico Rice Pudding, but is Almond-based! Perfect for one of my sons who is milk intolerant. He loves this pudding because he’s always loved horchata and it has those same vanilla and cinnamon flavors he can enjoy for a family night at home.

PS… If you need an almond based substitute you can use Señor Rico Horchata pudding in this recipe and take out the whipped topping or exchange it for a plant based option. It’s as easy as that and still tastes just as good!

I bought Señor Rico at Northgate Market but you can also find it at Cardenas, Superior, or Vallarta!

What is a trifle?

A trifle is basically a layered dessert! You can layer pudding, cake, berries and other fruits, whipped topping, and more.

For the trifle recipe below I layer rice pudding, pound cake, and a few other ingredients for a decadent dessert.

Trifles are great because they are so easy to make and generally don’t require any baking or complicated steps.

How do I make the best rice pudding trifle?

This rice pudding recipe is simple and NO BAKE. You only need 10-15 minutes to layer the ingredients and you have a pretty, delicious dessert to serve to yourself, family, or guests.

I really love making trifles for family get togethers, BBQ’s, or parties because they are so simple and quick to make. Since I’m a busy mom it’s nice having easy recipes like this that actually look pretty and taste amazing.

The recipe I’m making is for mini trifles, but you could easily follow the same steps and layer the ingredients into a large trifle dish.

I like having mini individual desserts at a party because they are really cute and people feel special having their own little dessert. My kids love mini desserts too, they are easy to make, so my kids can get in the kitchen and help out.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Layer a slice of pound cake on the bottom of a small cup or jar
  2. Add a layer of Señor Rico Rice Pudding – Arroz con Leche (1 or 2 spoonfuls)
  3. Add another slice of pound cake, layering on top of pudding
  4. Add a layer of strawberry slices
  5. Spoon in a few scoops of Señor Rico Rice Pudding with Dulce de Leche
  6. Top with whipped topping
  7. Sprinkle cinnamon on top
  8. Repeat steps for each mini trifle you make
  9. Stick a cinnamon stick in the top of each mini trifle

More trifle tips!

  • Use a clear glass jar, cup, or even clear plastic cups to make a beautiful dessert. You will be able to see the layers outside the glass as you go and can arrange the layers as you like to make it look prettier on the outside.
  • Make right before serving for the best outcome. Trifles always look the prettiest right after they’re made.
  • DO refrigerate leftovers for later. Even though they might not look as pretty, I always thing refrigerated trifles taste even better. The pound cake has time to soak up that rice pudding, which makes a different, but still delish texture!
