8 Ways to be a Busy Mom When You’re Burned Out | Avoid Mom Burnout

This post is sponsored by Degree Women but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Are you always trying to keep up and avoid mom burnout?

While I’d like to say I never burn out, it does happen.

I’d like to think burning out is a fairly common thing for a work at home mom of 3 kids.

Don’t all moms get overwhelmed every so often?

8 Ways to Avoid Mom Burnout

After the sleepless night, the millionth diaper change, the 14th whine of the day you might start feeling burned out.

Wishing that your husband would just get off work so he could take the kids for an hour or that you could magically be on a tropical vacation.

These are normal feelings of a mom carrying the often times overwhelming workload of raising a family.

Here are some easy ways to avoid mom burnout!

1. Create Family Goals

Creating family goals allows you to work through things that are weighing on you with your family.

Maybe getting the kids up early is stressing you out. Stress leads to burnout.

Sit down with your husband and kids to make some family goals, like getting up early each morning.

2. Two Words- Self Care

When you are focusing on self care you are less likely to burn out.

As a stay at home mom, just getting showered, dressed, and putting on makeup for the day is enough to give you a boost.

I love to have a great deodorant, like Degree’s UltraClear Black+White Dry Spray, that I can throw in my purse for a busy day with the kids.

When I’m a hot and sweaty mess my confidence takes a hit and I start burning out more quickly.

Degree Dry Spray keeps me dry with no yellow or white marks on my clothes. So, I can use it for a play date with the kids and a date night with my husband.

3. Knowing Mommy Burnout Symptoms

What is mommy burnout to you?

Know the symptoms before they start.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Getting burdened by the same mom jobs day in and day out.

If you feel like you are starting to get mom burnout then take some action with some of the ideas listed here to avoid it.

4. Staying Motivated

Keep things fresh in your life by making your own personal goals, finding new hobbies, and treating yourself.

I find that when I can keep myself motivated I’m less likely to burnout.

Planning a trip or date night, just something to look forward to, keeps you moving ahead.

5. Mixing Things Up

Try to keep things interesting to keep from burning out.

Part of mom burnout is getting stuck in the same routine every day.

Try making your chores fun by putting on some upbeat music. Redecorate a space in your home you spend a lot of time in.

Lift your mood by spending more time outdoors or in a well lighted room.

6. Giving up Some Burdens

Can you pinpoint a specific thing that is causing burnout?

Maybe it’s cooking dinner or laundry.

Are these things you could give up?

If you can hire someone or have a family member take over one of these burdens, even for a short period of time, it can help keep you from burning out.

Letting someone else take over can be hard, but just think of how much easier things will get if you are giving up some of the things that are hardest for you to do.

7. Saying No

This is something I have to tell myself time and time again. It is definitely okay to say no.

Sometimes you can get burned out by having too many obligations.

Know yourself and when to say no. You don’t have to accept every play date invitation!

8. Reworking Your Schedule

Take a look at your daily schedule.

Re-work the things that are burning you out.

I have the most energy in the morning, so I try to get my worst favorite tasks out of the way then.

Schedule some “me time” in your week where you can re-group and get rid of some of the burnout feelings!
