There are so many opportunities to strengthen your family bond. Creating powerful goals is one way to bring your family closer together.
As the holiday season approaches I really start to think on the importance of family in my life. Bringing my family together to create positive goals is a great way to make our holidays more meaningful!
Goals are easy to put together and are also easy to add on to or change. So, it’s great to build up that family togetherness through goals that will help you grow closer.
Why is family bonding important?
Family togetherness and bonding are important because it helps each family member to feel important, confident, and develop close relationships with their family members that will last a lifetime.
What makes family goals powerful?
Family goals are so powerful because you are bonding as you create goals together with your family members.
Creating family goals that help others is a great way to set an example for the kids to give back.
You can rely on the members of your family to hold you accountable for completing your goals. So, they are easier to keep than personal goals because you have a team to keep each other motivated.
What types of family goals help strengthen your family bond?
Family Health Goals– Make a goal as a family that will help improve the health of the family as a whole!
We recently made a family goal to get outdoors weekly. Hiking and family walks have become our new routine. It’s a healthy and easy goal that has brought us closer as a family and helps teach our kids to love the outdoors.
Giving Back- Set a goal to give back or volunteer at a charity. This is an amazing way to teach your kids compassion and empathy towards others.
As you work towards your donation goal you will grow closer as a family rallying around a cause you all care about. The holidays are a great time of year to make this a goal.
We chose the Ronald McDonald House Charities as our charity to give back to this year. Together with our kids we discussed how they help families experience togetherness, which is especially important during the holidays when they need each other the most.
Our kids helped us make a goal to donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities and even decided to donate some of their allowance money too!

Fun Family Goals– Make some easy and fun goals too. This will help your kids enjoy goal making even more.
Having a weekly family game night, cookout, or saving for a family vacation could all be fun family goals to make.
Helping Each Other– Teach your kids empathy and togetherness by making goals to help each other with chores or other tasks.
You could make a goal to do a random act of kindness for another family member each week or help younger siblings with homework.
Learning New Skills– Find a hobby that your whole family would enjoy and make it a goal to learn it together. Your family will forever remember the experience of learning this new skill together!
