How to get Free Baby Clothes

Finding gently used or new free baby clothes is just one of the ways you can save money on your baby budget.

I myself have struggled with the challenges of baby costs and know every little bit can help.

With the average millennial living paycheck to paycheck, according to a Charles SHWAB survey, raising a family can be a struggle, but it can be done.

With baby samples, free baby welcome boxes, and finding deals on free clothing and breastfeeding gear those costs can be lowered to fit the needs of any family.

How can I find free baby clothes?

Clothes are an easy cost to lower or cut completely. Here are some places to find free baby clothes.

  • Baby Samples – Register for free baby samples, sometimes free baby boxes come with clothes samples. You also can get a variety of other samples that will help with your baby.
  • Community Resources– Look into local resources for low income or if you are a single mom for single mothers. Many communities have non-profit organizations that will help you with baby related expenses or mom groups that have baby clothes exchanges.
  • Facebook Groups– Check local Facebook groups for free baby clothes. These can be found in mom support groups, yard sale groups, exchange groups, freebies groups, or baby groups. Just put your city or county name into the search.
  • Hand me Downs– Reach out to family members to see if anyone has baby clothes to spare. Sometimes even family members with older kids will have saved their baby clothes in storage. I’ve received some of the nicest, lightly worn, baby clothing this way.

Finding Cheap Baby Clothes

If you are still in need of baby clothes after trying all the free options the next step would be finding cheap baby clothes that are lightly used or highly discounted.

There are a lot of free resources for baby clothing mentioned above and even more places to find cheap baby clothing.

  • Yard Sales– Check yard sales for bags of baby clothing sold for a cheap price. A lot of times people are looking to get rid of all their saved baby clothes together. This is a great opportunity to save.
  • Facebook Groups– Check local mom and yard sale groups on Facebook for the same large bags or boxes of baby clothes you can get for a cheap price. Put out an ISO (In search of) post requesting free or cheap baby clothes with the size and type you want to see if anyone responds.
  • Clearance Racks– Always check clearance racks at Target or Walmart. When seasons are ending you can usually find the best deals for baby clothes. I’ve found really nice things as cheap as 1 or 2 dollars.
  • Thrift Stores– You would be surprised at the baby clothes you can find at thrift stores. Especially ones that only sell baby and children’s items. Here you can often find nice brand name and designer clothes for your baby.
  • Warehouse Stores– I’m only listing this because I have found some really good discounts on name brand baby clothes at Sam’s Club and Costco. Usually they are sold in sets of 2-3 outfits. If you don’t have a membership see if you can go with a friend or family member who has one.
