How do you make lemon flavoring for lemon cookies?
For these cookies I used lemon zest and lemonade to give a lemon taste.
I love lemon baked goods, but don’t like them too overpowered in flavor. So, using zest and lemonade gives it that perfect balance that tastes so good.
Can you use lemon extract instead of lemon zest?
Of course, you could use lemon extract instead of lemon zest. However, the flavor of the cookies would turn out different and the lemon taste might be too strong.
If you do decide to use extract, use a very small amount to start. You can always taste test the cookie dough and/or glaze and go from there.
How do you make the best frosted lemon cookies?
Lemon cookies are so fun to make. I love zesting oranges and lemons for one… the smell is amazing even before you put them in the oven.
The glaze on these cookies look so pretty you can easily serve them at a brunch, for Mother’s Day, or even a baby shower!
You’ll be surprised at how soft and melt in your mouth these cookies are. They are decedent and rich, so one is plenty per person if you are planning on making them for a party.
