Mother’s Day is coming up and I’ve been thinking a lot about the traditions my mom passed on and the lessons she’s taught us over the years.

I was lucky to be raised up with strong women in my life. My mom was no exception. She was one of the strongest women I know and taught us values that I want to pass on to my kids, especially my daughter!

Looking back at my childhood I can now say that one of the best things we as mothers can do to teach our daughters the value of giving is leading by example.

Planning a Mother’s Day Giving Project

Since my mom always encouraged us to give back during Mother’s Day I thought I would plan out a Mother’s Day project with my daughter to help her be giving to her grandma.

My kids are always playing in their grandma’s garden. Especially my little girl who just turned 3 years old.

She’s a pretty high spirited little thing and has really contributed a lot to making a mess of her grandma’s garden.

Just last month she dumped a whole bag of potting soil all over the back patio.

But, that’s okay, the grand kids really can do no wrong.

Still, I wanted to try to teach her that we could be giving to grandma, clean up, and give her a nice garden for Mother’s Day!

She was really excited to help me sweep and pick up the trash.

Even more excited to plant the flowers!
