The Little Pregnancy Hacks That Saved My Sanity (and My Jeans)

Pregnancy is both a magical fun time, but also HARD. The nausea alone I experienced in all three pregnancies made me feel like I was literally gonna die!

But, there were a lot of hacks I learned along the way that helped make things easier. Whether you are struggling with sleep, clothes not fitting, nausea, or the mountain of stuff people say you “need” I got some tips for you!

✨Check out all the hacks below that can make your pregnancy struggles a lot easier!

The Hack I Never Knew I Needed: My Bedside Snack Basket

Okay, when you’re 7 months pregnant and you’re hips are killing you, you DO NOT want to get our of bed in the middle of the night to get crackers for nausea or water.

I like to have a pregnancy supply basket next to my bed that you can store snacks, vitamins, and alll the things you might need at night or when you’re just relaxing.

Honestly any small basket or caddy would work for this. I like these car caddy’s because they have pockets and enough space for snacks and a Stanley Cup!

Things to add in your basket:

  • Prenatal Vitamins (I LOVE these)
  • Nausea snacks (Saltine Crackers are the best!)
  • Liquid IV packets for extra electrolytes
  • Sleep Mask (I’ve fallen in love with these Heated Eye Masks)
  • Water (Get a tall tumbler like a Stanley and fill it up before bedtime)

The Jeans Trick That Bought Me 2 Extra Trimesters

Not being able to button your favorite pair of jeans is the biggest bummer of a growing pregnancy belly. Not only are pregnancy jeans expensive, it’s not always easy to find that just right fit.

Luckily there are lots of jean extender options like the Maeband and BellaBand.

Sleep Like a Queen with Pregnancy Pillows

Pregnancy had my hips, legs, and muscles I didn’t even know I had hurting while I was trying to get some sleep.

Pregnancy pillows are a life saver during this time. Most of these pillows wrap all around you so you feel supported on all sides. Honestly you’ll have a hard time letting it go after the baby is born.😉

Momcozy, PharMeDoc, and Queen Rose are the top brands to check out!

You may also want to check out pregnancy wedges if you don’t want a bulky pillow taking up half the bed.

Morning Sickness: The Hacks That Didn’t Involve Crying

Nausea was my worst symptom with all 3 pregnancies. But, with my daughter I had to commute 2 hours each day through it.

Nausea Bands (some moms swear by the Frida Mom nausea band), Preggie Pops, hard candy, ginger ale, and lots of chicken noodle soup dinners are what got me through this time.

Nursing Bras

Pregnancy can cause your breasts to get way bigger than you’d ever thought possible. Don’t even get me started on the soreness and tenderness.

If you plan on breastfeeding at all, I would just invest in comfy nursing bras then buying a larger size. They also have bra extenders if you want to stay in your own bra a little bit longer.

When You Can’t Bend Down Anymore…

Ok, so at some point it becomes impossible to bend down. You’ll need your husband to put your socks on for you sometimes.

It’s also nice to have one of these grabby tools to pick things up off the floor. Honestly these things are just nice to have anyways.

Maternity Clothes Hacks

Honestly, you may be able to get by not wearing maternity clothes if you get stretchy tops, dresses, and oversized sweaters.

But, check out my affordable maternity clothes post to check out the best places to buy maternity clothes CHEAP. Some of my maternity shirts were so comfy I wore them years after I gave birth.

It’s also nice to buy maternity tops and dresses that are nursing friendly for after you give birth as well, so you don’t have to buy a whole new breastfeeding wardrobe.

The “Pregnancy Brain” Survival Kit

Pregnancy brain fog is real. So it’s important to set alarms and reminders on your phone and Alexa to stay on top of things.

I liked to have this cute pill organizer to remember to take my prenatal vitamins and medications.

Erin Condren planners are my favorite for staying organized. I love a visual organizer or journal where I can write things down.
