Silver City Ghost Town | Southern California Family Travel Tips

Have you visited Silver City Ghost Town?

Silver City Ghost Town, near Lake Isabella, is a great place to take the family for a quick day trip.

Only a quick drive from Kern County, Silver City Ghost Town is a cool place to take kids of all ages during the day or older kids for paranormal investigation events.

Where is Silver City Ghost Town Located?

Silver City Ghost Town is located in Bodfish, California near Lake Isabella. It’s a short drive from Bakersfield going up the canyon.

Is this Ghost Town kid friendly?

Absolutely! You can definitely take kids to explore the ghost town during the day.

Your kids will love exploring the old buildings.

For older kids ask about lantern and paranormal tours before you go.

Our baby Juliana loved being outside and she was much braver than the rest of us! The highlight of her trip was the resident dog and cat of Silver City Ghost Town.

If you are visiting during the day your kids definitely won’t get scared. It’s a museum like atmosphere that is great for kids to explore.

However, on our visit we were told many people have reported seeing strange happenings at this Ghost Town, even during the day.

The lantern and paranormal tours might be more spooky and better suited for older children.

When is the best time to visit Silver City Ghost Town?

This ghost town is open year round, but it’s good to check the weather conditions before driving up the canyon.

We like visiting during the Spring and Fall when it’s not snowing and not too hot.

Hours: 10am-4pm, 5pm on weekends.

Cost: A visit to the ghost town is under $10 per family member
