How to Create a Baby Led Feeding Schedule | Starting Solids 6-12 Months

This post is sponsored by Gerber®, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Is your baby starting solids?

We are almost there. In a little over a month our little newborn will be ready to try solids for the first time.

He is growing and hitting his milestones faster than ever. This is my third baby and I think each one goes by just a little bit more quickly than the last.

Since I’m always budgeting I’ve been stocking up on solids a little bit early. That way we will be prepared for when he’s ready to try.

It’s really easy to do this with Gerber cereals because they will keep well in the cupboard until he can have them.

I’ve always loved having Gerber cereals as one of the first foods for my baby because they contain iron and other essential vitamins and nutrients that are great supplements to breast milk!

Did you know just two servings of Gerber cereal meets the iron needs for your baby for the day?

Since I’ve had my first baby they’ve come out with a lot of different flavors and even have some with probiotics, which are good for baby’s tummy!

I also have to mention that I love that Gerber has made it a priority to make their baby cereals non-GMO in packaging without BPA!

Redeem a special Ibotta offer for Gerber at your local Walmart today and save!!

Each container says on the bottom what stage it is for. So, you can stock up from 1st foods all the way to 12 months. It tells you milestones on the bottom. So helpful to match the cereal with where your baby is at developmentally.

How to Create a Baby Led Feeding Schedule

There are so many great ways to start solids with your baby. But, my favorite has always been baby led, which just means that when you start solids you let your baby tell you if they’re ready, what they like, and when they’re ready to have more.

With our schedule we start solids gradually and then give more when our babies are loving it!

We start by trying solids once per day. If they don’t like it sometimes I’ll change the flavor or try it again the next week. Eventually we move up to feeding solids three times per day along with our breastfeeding routine!

I’ve made a printable to make it easy for you to plan out a baby led feeding schedule too!

Have you started solids? Is your baby loving it? I would love to hear all about it in the comments below!!
