How to Put Family First When You’re Extremely Busy

This post was sponsored Tai Pei, all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Does it ever feel like there isn’t enough time in a day?

I always wished I could get more hours in my day to finish the chores, to get caught up on work, and to have quality time to spend with my family.

It’s easy to let family slide to the back when you have a busy schedule.

How to Put Family First When You're Extremely Busy

You might have deadlines you are required to meet for work. As a homeschooling work at home mom I know about deadlines.

Missing important deadlines for work and home school might not have such great results.

Forgetting to do the laundry might leave your family without clean clothes and not so happy.

However, skipping family game night one week could be easily forgiven.

Putting family first is important though. Things like family game night shouldn’t be put aside because of a busy work schedule.

But, how do we find time to put family first always when we are so extremely busy?

How to Put Family First When You’re Extremely Busy

  • Leave Room In Your Planner

Don’t book up all your time in your planner. Leave some room for family during the week.

It’s okay to have a time where you aren’t doing chores or caught up in the business of life. Use this time to focus on your family.

  • Find Places to Save Time

Are there areas in your day that you could be saving time. This could be something little like cutting out some TV time or getting more convenient quicker lunches. I work from home so lunch was a place that I could save time by getting something more convenient.

Asian food is my favorite and I am loving the convenient entrees from Tai Pei. How to Put Family First When You're Extremely BusyStocking up on those for lunch time is the perfect way for me to get my Asian food fix and save some time during the day on lunch. Isn’t it great to have a new option instead of the same boring foods in the frozen foods section?

Tai Pei has a new line of frozen entrees and they are made with real ingredients, no artificial flavors or preservatives included. They come in new packaging that is so easy to store in the freezer and put in the microwave.

The orange chicken was so tasty. They also have a ton of options with flavor infused fried rice. Yum! I’ll definitely be sharing more about these in future posts.

The best part is that the time I save allows me to continue more quickly with my work day at home and spend more time with my kids. How to Put Family First When You're Extremely Busy How to Put Family First When You're Extremely Busy

  • Look for a Flexible Job

There are so many companies these days that offer the flexibility to put family first. Giving time off to be there for your kids school functions or time to work from home and ease daycare needs.

In my effort to put family first I started blogging full time from home. It helps me because I am able to set my own schedule and be there for my kids. We’ve even been able to start homeschooling which is a huge benefit to our family.

  • Get Organized

While you shouldn’t full your planner to the brim it does help to have your priorities organized. Organize your work and household duties in a planner, so that you know you have room left for time spent with the family. You can even schedule in family nights or family activities.

  • Disconnect

Even during time dedicated to family phones and electronics can get in the way. Have you ever got an important phone call that has pulled you away from a family dinner or activity? Set a time, maybe an hour per day, where everyone is disconnected from their phones and devices. That really sets the tone that family is being put first during that time and won’t allow a phone call to pull you away.

Putting family first is so important. It can be easy to get distracted from a “family first” state of mind when busy lives get in the way. But, there are many simple things you can implement in your life to ensure that family always comes first!

How do you put family first in your home? I would love to hear your ideas in the comments below!
