What You Should Keep Handy At EVERY Holiday Dinner!

All sorts of things can go wrong when you are hosting a meal during the holidays. Especially a large meal during Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I like to stay on the safe side so that none of these mishaps occur and if they do I am ready to take care of them in a jiffy!

Keep Handy At EVERY Holiday Dinner

What You Should Keep Handy At EVERY Holiday Dinner

1. Things to Keep the Kids Entertained

Sometimes it takes longer than usual to serve the holiday meal or the adults are busy chatting after dinner. Either way these are prime opportunities for kids to get bored very quickly.

Keep some age appropriate board games, movies, holiday coloring pages, and other activities handy for holiday downtime.

2. Extra Everything

Stock up on extra butter, chicken stock, paper towels, and other essentials if you are hosting a holiday dinner. You never know when you might need something extra as you are cooking and believe me no one wants to be fighting through the crowds at the grocery store the morning of Thanksgiving!

3. Background Music

Keep some background music ready to play. Soft background music is great for cheering up a holiday meal. We love listening to holiday music during this time of year!

4. Prepare for Spills

Spills are bound to happen during holiday meals. Especially if  you have kids running around with juice and sparkling cider.

The new OxiClean Splot is great for cleaning up a quick spill. Just spray the spill on the carpet, fill the Splot up with water, and pump up the stain.

We love our OxiClean Splot for quick spill clean ups and I personally think it’s a great gift idea for a gift exchange at work, with friends, or family!

You can find out more and purchase the OxiClean Splot at Casabella.

Make sure you have enough food for the guests that pop up that weren’t invited.

I always keep paper towels, and wet ones in a pink plastic basket which I have on my refrigerator top.I take it down each meal time and put it next to my place. I am ready for all mishaps which with a 5 year old are almost guaranteed.

Not having carpets on the main floor makes having a party a little less stressful. And I try to keep most of the eating and drinking in the kitchen and dining area. The OxiClean Splot would be useful for messes on the area rugs though.

Hi Ali! I wish we didn’t have carpets sometimes. It would be so much easier with our dogs and the toddler. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Would it be bad if I said I do not prepare for those?

Haha No Lana, I don’t think that’s bad at all. In fact I felt very unprepared myself this year even though I spent weeks preparing. Noone could have prepared me for my toddler wanting to cling to my leg all day on Thanksgiving. It really was a team effort to pull it all together. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays!! :)

I always have a little extra of everything on hand including paper towels and spot cleaner for cleaning up spills but this OxiClean Splot is a game changer. This would make cleaning up and ensuring that a stain wasn’t left behind.
Also, I never think to play some soft music and I don’t know why. This is a great idea and will be added to my holiday get togethers this year.

I have a lot of cleaning products and towels on hand. Generally though, just calm and have a good attitude, mishaps happen and you don’t need to let them ruin your time.
