It’s so fun making mini red, white, & blue desserts for family get togethers in the summer. A favorite is our No-Bake Mini Patriotic Trifles.

This crowd pleasing dessert is super easy to make because there is no baking involved and you can literally throw them together minutes before family or guests arrive. With Memorial Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July, and other summer events upcoming it’s great to have recipes like this on-hand.

It’s been hard spending more than a year in quarantine and not being able to have family bbq’s and parties. But, now that everyone is getting vaccinated I’m looking forward to family and friends this summer.

Read below for this yummy and easy recipe and tips for putting together a fun summer get together with family!

Tips for Planning Summer Family Get-Togethers

My secret for any party is Walmart! Seriously, you can find just about anything there from bulk food, cutlery, and plates; to party supplies, cookware, and everything in between.

Walmart has become my go-to since they started grocery pick-up and who doesn’t like an easy grocery run!?

Here’s how you can make your summer parties special with Walmart:

  • Check out their site for summer deals! They usually always have great sales and sometimes offer coupons.
  • Stock up on cutlery, paper goods, and more!
  • Don’t worry about forgetting anything. Walmart has cookware, punch bowls, tablecloths, and really anything you can think of to make your party a success.
  • Choose easy to make recipes that don’t take too much time or energy. The mini trifle recipe below is an easy starting point.
  • Get your party shopping and grocery shopping done all in one place, you can even order through Walmart Plus and pick it up or have it delivered.

Can mini trifles be made a day ahead?

I wouldn’t make these mini trifles a day ahead just because the whipped cream might droop and the angel food cake might get a little soggy.

What you could do is prep the strawberries the day before by having them all cut up and ready to go! You could also make your pudding the day before.

Will my trifle get soggy overnight?

The cake you use in your trifle will get more soggy if you keep it in the fridge overnight. However, it is still delicious and can be eaten for a few days after!

My suggestion is to make your trifle 2-3 hours before planning to serve, especially if it’s for a party or get-together and saving the leftovers for yourself.

What are the layers of a mini trifle?

There are so many ingredients you could use for layering your mini trifle. But, with a mini trifle you won’t be able to have as many layers or ingredients as with a large trifle.

Here are some ingredient ideas for layering a mini trifle:

  • Oreos
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Pudding (Any Flavor)
  • Custard
  • Cake
  • Brownies
  • Cookies
  • Sliced Fruit
  • Sliced or whole berries
  • Mousse
  • Whipped Cream
  • Sprinkles
  • Ice cream
