For the holidays I love to show off a yummy trifle for dessert. One of my favorites is my Peanut Butter Banana Trifle.

Trifles are so pretty and easy to make. They make a great centerpiece for any holiday dinner and would work well for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

My grandma actually bought me my trifle bowl before she passed. So, it means so much to me to be able to create new trifles in it to enjoy with my family. She loved cooking, so I know she’d love seeing me use it so much.

Why we love trifle recipes!

The beautiful layers of trifles make them look like complicated recipes to make.

Party guests always love how pretty trifle’s look with these layers, but they actually aren’t hard to make at all.

Although you will use several ingredients to create the layers of your trifle, these are usually simple things that don’t take long to make.

You should plan on serving your trifle soon after preparing it. It will still be just as tasty the next day, but won’t look as pretty.

This Peanut Butter Banana Trifle uses crumbled Nutter Butter cookies from Walmart as one of the layers and topping.

Cookies, like Nutter Butter, work well as a trifle layer, crumbled or whole.

How can I make the best Peanut Butter Trifle?

My best advice for making your trifle beautiful is to be careful with the layering. You shouldn’t rush placing your layers down.

Smooth out each layer, look at how it looks from the outside and rearrange if necessary.

I always love seeing the end result and how all the layers of the trifle come together.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Family Size Pack of Nutter Butter cookies
  • Store Bought Brownies or Brownie Mix Prepared
  • Store Bought White Pound Cake, Angel Food Cake, or Mix Prepared
  • Instant Banana Pudding Prepared According to Box
  • 2 Small Containers of Whipped Topping
  • Peanut Butter Pie Filling

For Peanut Butter Pie Filling

  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 1/2 cups of milk
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tbs. vanilla extract
  • 1 tbs. butter

Instructions:

  1. Make sure to have all your layers prepared or ready before you start constructing your trifle. I like buying store bought cake, brownies, and using instant pudding to make it quick and easy!
  2. To prepare the peanut butter filling add cornstarch, egg yolks, and milk to a sauce pan on medium to high heat stirring constantly.
  3. Once boiling the mixture will start to thicken. Continue stirring until it’s thickened. (The consistency is like peanut butter)
  4. Take off heat. Stir in butter, peanut butter, and vanilla.
  5. Let your peanut butter filling cool for 10-15 minutes before assembling your trifle.
  6. Start assembling your trifle with a layer of pound cake.
  7. Add the peanut butter filling for the next layer, smoothing it out across the trifle bowl.
  8. Crush 1/2 of your Nutter Butter cookies with a food processor.
  9. Next, add a layer of crushed Nutter Butter cookies to your trifle saving a small amount of crumbles for the top of your trifle.
  10. Layer your brownies on top of your crushed Nutter Butter cookies. Remember to check the sides on the outside to see if it looks nice or needs adjustments.
  11. Add a layer of banana pudding on top of the brownies.
  12. Top with whipped cream sculpting it how you like on top.
  13. Sprinkle remaining Nutter Butter crumbles on top of your trifle.
  14. Place a Nutter Butter on the very top!
  15. Serve as soon as possible!
