I’m crazy about pistachios and love making my favorite pistachio pudding dessert with the BEST EVER Watergate Salad recipe.

Pistachios are so refreshing and this dessert is great for summertime. 🌞

We’ve always got a lot going on during the summer. Soooo I try to keep a good stack of easy dessert recipes ready to go if we need to take something to a potluck or BBQ.

Why do they call it a Watergate salad?

Watergate Salad is a timeless recipe that is a spin on fruit salad recipes with crushed pineapple.

No one seems to know why it got this name. It has a lot of other interesting names like:

  • Green Fluff
  • Jello Salad
  • Fruit Salad
  • Green Stuff
  • Shut the Gate Salad
  • Green Goop
  • Green Goddess

I always remember having some type of green fruit salad at potlucks and during holidays as a little girl and Watergate Salad is one of my favorites.

I’m curious if a lot of people have memories of a special fruit salad from their childhood. Did you? 💁‍♀️ Tell me about it in the comments!

You can really make Watergate Salad your own by adding your favorite ingredients or taking away things you don’t like. I make mine with bananas🍌, which I add to most of my fruit salad recipes.
