When Should You Introduce Solids to Baby? | Timeline for Feeding Infant

Time goes by so fast after your little one is born. Sooner or later they will be old enough to try solids.

There are so many milestones and things to keep track of with a newborn and sometimes it’s hard to know what to do.

Especially with family and friends advice.

Have you ever had a well meaning grandparent insist that your baby is ready to try solids at 3 months old?

It makes sense since the changing times have come with changing recommendations about how we should care for our babies.

Many feeding recommendations have drastically changed since I had my first baby 10 years ago.

So, how do we know when it’s time to feed baby solids?

When Should You Introduce Solids to Baby?

To find out when your baby is ready to eat solids my best advice is to check with their pediatrician and see what they recommend. Right now, our pediatrician has recommended that we start solids with our baby at 6 months old.

We always start at the recommended age. But, since I’m also a big fan of baby led weaning, we don’t push solids if they aren’t interested.

In the case that they aren’t interested we will sometimes try a different solid or try waiting a few more weeks, then trying again.

What Solids Should I Start With

I love starting with Happy Baby Yogurt because it’s whole milk yogurt with Vitamin D.

Happy Baby yogurt is something that I can feel good about feeding my baby because it’s Non GMO and USDA organic with no added sweeteners.

This yogurt also has probiotics, which are great for baby’s tummy!

…and isn’t it wonderful when baby has a happy tummy, that means more sleep for mom!

You can find Happy Baby yogurt at Target!

Big sister had to help me pick out all the flavors!

Happy Baby has a good variety of flavors for your baby. This is perfect for introducing solids because if your baby doesn’t like one flavor you can try another.

Our Target carried banana & sweet potato, blueberries, and plain Baby’s First Yogurt. So excited to try and introduce solids with Happy Baby to our baby very soon!

Their Baby’s First Whole Milk Yogurt is comes in teeny tiny cups. Perfect size for feeding baby!

Did you know Happy Baby also makes toddler yogurt cups? It grows with your baby! My toddler loves the toddler and the baby yogurts they make. So yummy!
