Summer time means family walks, hikes, vacations, reunions, activities, fun, and endless opportunities to build your family bond!
Memories built with your kids over the summer will last a lifetime, giving them traditions to recreate with their kids when they grow older.
Check out the family bonding tips below to make the most out of the time you get outside with your kids to build memories and a lasting bond.
Family Outdoor Activities
Take your family bonding outdoors this summer or even as the weather starts cooling off.
Not only are the outdoors a great place to bond, but also disconnect from electronics and get some activity in.
Here are some of our favorite outdoor family bonding activities.
Family Water Party
Even if you don’t have a swimming pool you can still plan a fun water day to bond with your kids.
Get some squirt guns, run through the sprinkler, or make a trash bag slip n’ slide.
Leftover birthday balloons are great for a water balloon fight.
Make up some water games and have a blast!
Family Picnic
Pack up some lunch, some snacks, a big blanket, and take the kids for a hike or walk.
Find a trail near your house or just go for a walk at the park.
We have a huge woodsy park near our home that we love to take the kids for a hike and picnic.
This week we took along some of our favorite chips from Boulder Canyon!
Boulder Canyon chips are the perfect snack for a day hike in the park because they are a better-for-you choice and cooked in really unique oils.
I love their Avocado Oil Canyon Cut chips!
If you have dietary needs Boulder Canyon chips are great because they are clearly labeled.
My kids love sitting on the grass when we have family picnics. Of course they take their shoes off the minute they hit the grass.
Join a Family Event
Look at your local event calendar to see if there are any family events you can take the kids too.
Joining a run like a 5k is great for bonding because you can train for it together and run it together.
My husband is a long distance runner and it is definitely a bonding experience as we help him train and all get together to watch his finish!

Find Your Local Family Friendly Spots
Even though I was born and raised in the same town I am still always on the lookout for family friendly spots close to home.
We have a few family passes to local museums and zoos that we like to visit throughout the year.
These are great spots to visit and revisit as we grow our memories and family bond.
